BLAIRSVILLE, GEORGIA (UNION COUNTY)

Blairsville, located in Union County, Georgia, was one of the original counties created from the land taken from the Cherokee Indians in the Land Lottery of 1832.  Blairsville is the county seat and the only incorporated community in the county.  The area has become a recreational destination since the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) created Nottely Lake on the Nottely River and  Vogel State Park.  Spanning 4,180 acres, Nottely Lake has 106 miles of shoreline.

Brasstown Bald, rising 4,784 feet, and located in Union County, is the highest peak in Georgia. From the observation tower on the summit you can see four states.

While discovering the enchanted mountains and valleys of Blairsville, Georgia, explore some of the nearby scenic trails and waterfalls: Anna Ruby, Horse Trough, High Shoals, Mill Creek, Raven Cliff , Long Creek, Fall Branch, Leatherwood, Little Rock Creek, Helton Creek, DeSoto, and Dukes Creek Falls are exquisite! Dale Creek Falls drops about 150 feet down a granite canyon into Dukes Creek. It is a sight to see.   Additionally, there are many places for swimming, boating, fishing and camping in Blairsville, Georgia.  Lake Winfield Scott is an 18 acre lake that is perfect for boating. 

 Vogal State Park, one of Georgia's oldest and popular state parks, is 280 acres of beautiful mountain land and it, too, contains a large lake and 17 miles of hiking trails. Nestled in the beautiful North Georgia mountains, Young Harris College is a two year private Methodist affiliated liberal arts college.  It has approximately 600 students and offers year round classes.  It's campus provides a gymnasium, pool, spectacular athletic fields and the third largest planetarium in the state.  35 student organizations are available in which students can choose to participate.  Young Harris College is fully accredited.
